#DIÁRIODESHOWSINDICA: 10 songs for you to add to your playlist today! – MUSOSOUP

Get ready, today’s list is the most addictive ever!

HAIDEN – Okay Ok K

Anyone who didn’t love a boyband in the ’90s can flip the page and look at upcoming singles, or give Haiden and his catchy release ‘Okay Ok K’ a chance (I guarantee you won’t regret it). It’s impossible not to risk a few steps in the chorus of this song, honestly.

The lyrics originate from how Haiden’s ex-girlfriend spelled the word “ok” in text messages, depending on how she felt. With “Okay” representing that she was perfectly fine, “Ok” suggesting a moderate level of annoyance and the dreaded “K” conveying that she is dangerously upset.

Press play and feel involved in a danceable mix of Backstreet Boys with the sensuality of Justin Timberlake, oscillating between the Jonas Brothers commercial and the smooth voice of Shawn Mendes.

WALLY HOAK – Hard Feelings

Wally Hoak is a composer and producer responsible for his own career. Motivated by telling stories about life through his songs, in his new single ‘Hard Feelings’ he uses elements of contemporary pop to describe how harmful love can be.

Born in a small town in the Dominican Republic, since he was 13, Wally started to create his first compositions, still in Spanish. But it wasn’t until 2020 that he joined forces and used the examples of his favorite artists, such as Dua Lipa and The Weekend, to start his promising career.

‘Hard Feelings’ is part of a love story told in four parts. During this chapter, Hoak takes on the role of the victim, torn apart and emotionally shaken by lost love, as he convinces himself to let go of the past, but he doesn’t seem to be able to.

“This song is how I feel most of the time; the message is that sometimes we make decisions knowing the consequences and still carry on with it – no matter how much it hurts and leads to hate, anger, and headache. Normally, I’m frank, except on the subject of my feelings; just like the song says, i want to be left alone with my feelings.”

This whole story would make great emo music, but Wally Hoak was able to translate the intensity of those feelings into a huge pop hit. Listen now:

Zøie – Sad Girl Thing

This single is one of those that become anthem on your playlist! I got too caught up in the beat of ‘Sad Girl Thing’ from the first few seconds. Zøie‘s voice is delicate and the mix of synthesizers and piano chords creates a melodic atmosphere capable of seducing the listener. Without a doubt, ‘Sad Girl Thing’ has the perfect formula to captivate those who love a pop song that talks about feelings.

In this single Zøie sings about having her feelings invalidated and transfers in the lyrics all her experience in relationships, despite being only 20 years old. ‘Sad Girl Thing’ is the fifth release of the year and her last solo track before gearing up for 2022, with the release of additional singles and her debut EP.

MARIGOLD INGOT – Dial Tone

Marigold Ingot is the new name that enters the hall of pop singers who thrill people for their vocal power, as well as Adele and Sara Bareilles. In ‘Dial Tone’, she explores love and its consequences after the end of a relationship.

The soft piano in the background creates a solid and melancholic base for the chorus that grows full of intensity, able to leave the lungs breathless, exhaling sadness and at the same time, relief. Marigold also reminds us that after every end there is a new beginning.

She is one of the great revelations and has been gaining more and more space among the independent scene in the United States, since the release of her debut EP “Blame Game” (2020). Follow Marigold Ingot’s work, I’m sure she will reach the mainstream.

ELIJAH STONE – Owe It To Myself

This is Elijah Stone‘s first single in rock style. The artist who toured indie in his latest release, declares that he intends to explore different musical aspects, as a result of his vast and diversified musical taste.

In ‘Owe It To Myself’, we can see right away in the intro with the discreet guitar, the strong influence of grunge and the repetitive chorus that takes the title of the track, sticks like gum to our head.

The singer-songwriter compares this single’s approach to a cry of freedom from the prison the mind is capable of holding you, and confesses that the lyrics were created as an internal conversation between himself and his anxiety/depression issues. Elija plans to add this track to his next album titled “Confessions”.

“Everything happens for a reason. You can try to justify everything that happens, or you can step back and let go of worrying about WHY things happen. Just be glad they do.” – declares the musician.

CHARLIE JOHN – Little Things

Be careful when pressing play on ‘Little Things’, as the chances of you falling in love with Charlie John‘s voice are huge. Before reading about his history and the origins of this release I spent a lot of time just enjoying the beauty of the timbre of his voice and the melody of this song. It is extremely pleasurable and even has a saxophone solo!

However, ‘Little Things’ is about the end of their romantic relationship where he realizes he’s missing those little details his ex-girlfriend used to do and he doesn’t realize how much he’s going to suffer. The thing about ‘we only appreciate it when we lose’, you know?

Charlie John was born into a family of musicians, has been invited to audition for “The Voice” Chicago, Dallas, Nashville and also accumulates some awards in his career. If we were going to put together a line-up of all romantic songs, it would definitely be too difficult to choose the headliner between John Legend and Charlie John.

BAD GURU – Sunshine in Hell

Bad Guru is an Atlanta band formed by five rock-loving high school friends. The latest release, ‘Sunshine in Hell’, closed the series of singles to promote the first album “Fractures”, which debuted on November 19 on digital platforms.

The sixth track on the album opens with electrifying guitar solos, full of grunge influences from Soundgarden, one of the quintet’s favorite bands. The chorus, on the other hand, remains stable without major frills, just like the Kings of Leon songs. Tool, Highly Suspect and Sturgill Simpson are also names the band draws on to form their musical personality.

“Sunshine in Hell is about how the lessons you learn from others can come at a cost if followed. Furthermore, these messages often generate conflicts. However, in the end, we do our best and allow ourselves to burn like the sun in hell, if that’s where our best takes us.” – declared the band.

My suggestion is that you listen to their full album, I’m sure a lot of songs will be on your playlist.

NO VACANCIES – This Feeling

“Our goal is to bring back that strong rock sound that seems to have been lost in recent years, we think that, along with our previous release ‘Bad Habits’, are perfect examples of this.” This i how the band presented their new single ‘This Feeling’ and they’re doing the job just fine!

The single is nostalgic, the modulations between the instrumental and the vocals leave the listener dying to jump to the sound of this song at a concert with friends. With a chunky bass riff kicking off, along with a guitar solo propelling the track towards the first chorus, it’s a track steeped in indie influence while still managing to retain all of the band’s attitude.

Can we already thank No Vacancies  for their efforts to bring this sound straight from their garage to our ears? I would say yes.

MORETTI – D’ya Care?

I found the band’s concept of making a song very interesting in which, in addition to talking about a life experience, they bring a question right in the title to make us think. Happily, Moretti created a track with the intention that his fans would reflect on what is really important to them.

“We do everything ourselves. We want to make everyone feel that they belong and that we are sharing a life experience.” – they comment on the single.

SNAP INFRACTION – Memories of Ourselves

The American band Snap Infraction released another single full of energy, to please themselves, and those who also enjoy the mix of classic rock, alternative and a hint of hard rock.

“We like to make the kind of music we’d like to hear.” – Tony “We like guitars, amps, drums and harmonies so that’s what we play. We try not to overthink things. “– Steve.

About the narrative of ‘Memories of Ourselves’ the vocalist tries to change the conversation and jokes that the single talks about not having access to the ICloud account and then comments that it was actually inspired by the story of a movie that he heard people talking about. As he wasn’t very clear about the topic, you’ll need to listen to the end to find out.

But either way, the entire arrangement of ‘Memories of Ourselves’ is built to be a song that will get their fans excited. “It was definitely written to be played live. And loud!” they said, recalling the single’s debut at their last show in New York.
