MEGAN BLACK –  Freedom Belongs to Him

Influenced by the Rolling Stones and Talking Heads, Scottish singer Megan Blackrecently released the single ‘Freedom Belongs to Him’. A powerful track with instrumental elements that will surely make you want to ‘move like Jagger’.

In this single, the incisive vocalist brings reflections on power and gender within relationships. She has been using her talent to vent about her experience within the LGBT+ community and celebrate empowerment.

The song talks about Megan’s relationship with men who abused her.

“When I thought about the concept, it was about abuse and how we excuse men. We give them freedom with their sexuality, their words and actions that women never understand. This was an ongoing cycle in my life and I had just accepted that it was normal. The more people I spoke, the clearer it became that this is a big issue that affects many of us. This song is my own way of bringing about change and accepting that I’m not okay with the way things are.” She said.

HOWE – Made For This Time

Chyanne Ledbetter started releasing her songs last year. Despite the short time in the music scene, the singer exudes talent and sound quality in her new song.

The voice behind the HOWE project, confesses that her single was sonically inspired by a Beach Boys.  “I’m writing about how I’m pretending to be good in this social media driven world and trying to feel like I belong. to a time when we are so connected that we disconnect. The chorus really sums it up for me, where I write— “You ask me what I look like, but your eyes are shrouded in blue light. So I avoid mine to look up at the blue sky. I was made for that time”. She said.

Despite the deep thought, her song is light and easy to listen to. Check out:

BELONGING – Now That We’re No-One

Chris Patrick, known as BELONGING recorded his new single straight from his bedroom, after deciding to melody his thoughts.

“I was spending a lot of time lying awake at night thinking about mistakes, disappointments and regrets,” says Chris, “and I think my brain decided I might as well soundtrack my excessive thinking! While there’s a lot of self-deprecating humor there, it was definitely cathartic for me too. It helped me get a little perspective on everything, so maybe I have some emotional maturity after all! ”

The result was amazing! The musical personality that Chris imprinted on this single was something that my ears were completely intrigued by. He starts reciting phrases to the sound of some shrill notes and then the melody takes shape and grows intensely as it oscillates. It’s possible to get an idea of how the thoughts in the singer’s head floated and ironically, it’s very similar to ours.

SARAH REYNOLDS – Wilderness

Sarah Reynolds‘ sweet voice won my ears on the first few chords. Gently she expresses how she felt during the lockdown and how she still feels about some aspects of her life. This internal anguish has been the companion of the majority of the world’s population, has it not?

And despite being an outburst song that recounts his frustration with life, it’s different from how we’re used to hearing it. ‘Wilderness’ is a light, delicate and intimate track that leaves a feeling of peace. After all, this single is more than just a release from the singer, it’s her prayer.

MAX SUMMERS – All I Need

Max Summersis a French singer-songwriter, who after moving to America, completely lost contact and connection with his sisters. So, he decided to say everything he felt about what happened in the form of music and composed the single ‘All I Need’.

And even so, maybe the message doesn’t reach the recipient clearly since their sisters don’t speak English and don’t even know (yet) of the existence of this song.

Have you ever felt like telling someone that the only thing you wanted was for them to show that they care? If so, then ‘All I Need’ is also your relief song.

ANINDYA MUKHERJEE – Paper Boat

Anindya Mukherjee‘s a indian singer, composer, instrumentalist and music producer and his new release is a ballad on piano. The artist reports having musical influences from artists such as Paul Mccartney, Billy Joel, Sara Bareilles, Peter Cincotti to create his sound personality.

“I am a self-taught pianist. I play with riffs and when I like one, the music happens very quickly. I also found that my lyrics are derivatives from a central concept; the one that the riff usually inspires. So my songs are based on things that are important to me personally, and I hope to resonate with others too!”

On ‘Paper Boat’ he added, “During the lockdown, my two teenage sons were at home with us. That extra time with them was great; but I was also sad that they wasted a year with friends and experiences that shape those crucial years. It made me think of my childhood and how we evolved… like paper boats in a stream.”

Upon hearing this single, I closed my eyes and felt like I was watching a musical in the theater. Come listen too and tell me if you felt the same!

DEAR AMBER – The End of Us

Today, August 13th, is the release of the EP “Sparks Equal Fall” by the band Dear Amber and the track ‘The End of Us’ is one of the biggest hits of this work! A classic of melodic alternative rock, straight from Denmark.

With more than 20 years on the road, the members of Dear Amber enjoy good 90s rock and are inspired by bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Kent, Kashmir and Placebo to create their own hits.

I talked to Jan (drummer), and he told me that he admires our musicality a lot. “As a drummer, Brazil always has a very special place in my  heart, as many of the most interesting drum rhythms come from this fantastic part of the world. In our rock universe, neither Maracatu nor Samba control the rhythm section, but when it’s not alternative rock I’m dealing with, I like to dive into different Afro-Brazilian rhythms. It’s interesting and challenging and I think by working with many different types of music and rhythms, you can influence any genre and steer towards your own unique playing style.”

He added, “It will hardly be tomorrow or a month from now that Dear Amber will play in Brazil, but we can dream of it and until then we can at least meet on digital music platforms and social networks. We hope you like our music and support our band and our project”

I’m sure after you hear the single ‘The End of Us’, you’ll want Dear Amber to come to Brazil as soon as possible (if the pandemic lets it, amen).

ODEONS – Not The One

The last but not least single of today’s post I present you the new release from ODEONS, ‘Not The One’. An infectious track, with distorted guitars and intense vocals. A mix of modern pop with elements of 90s alternative rock.

This song is a metaphor that leads the listener to reflect on how we can use the circumstances around us to stimulate change within and around us.

“When the individual rises above his circumstances, he is often seen as a leader and with a measure of power over others. This is the real test of character – how would you act in the same situation? In the song’s narrative, the protagonist recognizes and actualizes his power, but does not raise himself above the others. ” declared the band.

Listen now to the release of the band ODEONS, whose single cover ‘Not The One’ was created by Robert Fisher, the same artist who made the covers for Nirvana’s albums.
