There are 8 independent artists for you to meet this month.
OUR FUTURE LEADERS – INADEQUATE
Have you ever felt so frustrated that you couldn’t do anything you used to like to do? A disconnect from yourself and the rest of the world, as if being alive was inappropriate?
The band Our Future Leaders composed their latest single based on this experience. “Inadequate” is about the days when one of the members lived through the depression. “I’m tired of feeling sorry for myself”, is just one of the melancholy lines, but with a touch of hope for better days that make up the band’s new song.
One of the things I love most about the art of music is precisely the possibility of healing that it provides, when we put the feeling out by singing and/or playing and then, feel something change for the better. But of course, it is just extra help! Don’t discard professional help when you need it, ok?
A detail about Our Future Leaders is that the band’s drummer is Brazilian, did you know? Okay, maybe you do, as they told me they’ve already won over some fans here in my country hahaha.
“We were blown away by so many kind words from new Brazilian fans when we released our song “Sleep Silent” in 2018, which received nearly 100,000 views on Facebook.”
Brian even confessed that he would love to do a show here, and of course, I already told him that Diário de Shows is a confirmed presence! What about you? Will you go with me?
GINA ROYALE – HERE’S TO YOU
What walks on the side of depression is anxiety. Singer and songwriter Gina Royale is well acquainted with this side that often gets in the way of mental health.
Gina says that one day while she was driving, she started singing “I’m tired of convincing myself that I’m not tired”, and that’s when her single titled “Here ’s to You” came about. Through music, the artist shares her strength to overcome this obstacle with thousands of people around the world.
“This song speaks to everyone who needs to work on their mental health so they can overcome the obstacles in life in a healthy way.” She declared.
Meet the sweet and charming voice of Gina Royale:
SAMMM – MAGIC
If Disney’s Pixie Dust had a sound, it would be “Magic” in Sammm‘s voice. The Nashville singer-songwriter has such a sweet voice that accompanied by piano chords create an angelic atmosphere!
In this single, Sammm manages to translate into music the sensibility of innocent love. In the chorus, “Your touch is like magic”, she sings so sweetly that even if you’re not in love, you feel love in the air.
It even awakens that nostalgia for teenage love, you know? (look at me giving my age haha good times)
“It’s a very personal and special song for me. I’m very proud of that. A lot of people have already connected to it in their own way, and I feel there are more people who need to hear it.” Says the singer.
Press play and meet “Magic”, Sammm’s first release:
THE LONGING – TORTURE
The intro to “Torture” is mysterious, like small steps into the unknown. The piano melody makes you curious about what’s to come and when you least expect it, Laura Bradley surprises you with spectacular lyrical singing and seduces you in such a way that you just surrender to The Longing‘s new single.
Like that saying “a wolf in sheep’s clothing”, the American band’s release reflects on abusive relationships and co-dependency in a way that catches our ears.
The theme of the new single was decided after this last year of confinement due to the pandemic, where many cases of emotional and physical abuse have become more evident. For many, it was one of the hardest periods of torture.
The Longing managed to translate the suffering in a brilliant and overwhelming way. Definitely, “Torture” is one of the new favorite songs of progressive metal lovers.
MONRAD – WIRED
If you’ve been following the releases of independent artists I find out through the MUSOSOUP platform, you’ve already read about MONRAD. Yes, he released another work that I loved, and here we are hearing that very peculiar voice again.
This time, MONRAD decided to create a rest song. You know those days when you feel consumed by your day-to-day obligations, and inside you’re screaming for a break? It was in this feeling that “Wired” became a dose of recovery from life.
Check out another MONRAD release:
ATOMIC BRONCO – CRUEL
Atomic Bronco is a grunge/alternative rock band based in London. They recently released their first EP “Spectrum”, and you can check it out on your favorite streaming platform.
The track “Cruel”, which belongs to the new EP, has a catchy rhythm! It is the soundtrack of the famous and current one-night stand It’s about the burning passion of the night. About that moment that feels like a dream you didn’t want to wake up to and makes your mouth water. The hang-out that is work of the dark side hahaha. Cruelty gets to be sexy.
Watch the video for “Cruel” and let me know if you feel the same way as I do about that song:
STAY FOR TOMORROW – I DON’T NEED YOU TO SAVE ME
Scottish band Stay for Tomorrow released the single “I don’t need you to save me” as a piece of advice on how to move away from toxic relationships.
“This song addresses the struggles that many faces and the importance of rebuilding their self-worth.” Declared the band.
This track features an immersive of emotional guitars and when you least expect it, you’ll be singing the chorus out there full of self-assurance!
TOYQUEENS – LET’S GET LOUD
This is that soundtrack of life when you have self-esteem in heaven and nothing can shake you. You exude attitude wherever you go. “Let’s Get Loud” is a song that gives you the feeling of power!
Toyqueens is an alternative rock/punk band from the UK. The sound is electrifying, full of noise, and, at the same time, enveloping. All this harmony was composed to tell the story of a couple madly in love with each other, where nothing but themselves exists in the world.
When you fall in love blindly, it’s really like that. Toyqueens managed to expose in chords, this sensation in their new single “Let’s Get Loud”. Check out:
