The first list of the month with the best releases I found on MUSOSOUP is out. Check out!
JELIA – Each Time You Fall
Jelia surprised me with this song. As it starts with a soft voice following the piano, we end up imagining that throughout the composition, the single will have this more intimate characteristic. And that’s when some electronic elements appear and the beat involves us in an extremely contagious way. The mixture she managed to create in “Each Time You Fall” even seems magical, oscillating between the melancholy and the danceable.
The debut of the Polish singer in the music market has everything to be a success. The impeccable voice, the well-developed arrangement, and charming poetry. It’s practically impossible not to admire all of Jelia’s talent, displayed so truly in this work in partnership with producer Micah Volter.
The release “Each Time You Fall” is an immersive reflection on a recent love for the singer. She darkly articulates the overload of emotions a person can have at that moment, but also contrasts this, saying how easier it is to start a new relationship than to face fear and not be afraid to love again. Do you agree? Listen to the single and let me know what you think later.
ANOTHER BLACK DAY – Open Up the Sky
Another Black Day is back! I personally had never heard of them until I found the new single “Open Up The Sky” on MUSOSOUP. But when I went to research the band, I found out that they had already made a name for themselves in the metal/alternative scene in the United States, and then, they closed their activities until the present moment, where they have just released this track and are with a new lineup.
Perhaps, if you are an avid and knowledgeable listener of many bands in this musical, you must have already heard some of their music. Otherwise, I present to you now the latest release from Another Black Day, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Matt Wilkof and bassist Sean Hannon.
“Open Up The Sky” is modern but harkens back to a simpler hard rock era. Rich in harmonies, thoughtful lyrics, and powerful grooves, his lyrics are based on a personal reflection of failed relationships.
I don’t know why the band decided to resume their career, but definitely, they are not measuring efforts to win back their fans and attract new ones to get addicted to this powerful sound. Check out!
100 WATT SHINE – The Devil You Don’t Know
100 Watt Shine is a band formed around a love of blues and country-based rock with an edge. The single “The Devil You Don’t Know” features a guitar cameo by Peter Stroud of Sheryl Crow. And according to the members, the theme of the song is the listener who decides after hearing this song. I found it quite mysterious, as much as the first chords that seduced me when I pressed play.
Call what you want the “Devil” of this composition to be, but one thing is clear, they know how to act as such to delight whoever is listening to the band play. The recipe is right: great guitars, powerful vocals, and a melody that envelops you from start to finish.
Influenced by legends like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, 100 Watt Shine is definitely going to be on your playlist from now on. Or you are extremely resistant to temptation.
NEO 10Y – Vapid Prophecy
Now I’m going to show you a different musical style than what I always present in #DIÁRIODESHOWINDICA. The artist NEO 10Y has become a reference in the electronic pop scene in England and the United States with his psychedelic compositions that carry revolutionary and (perhaps) utopian messages. His goal is to make the audience expand their consciousness through music. And I loved the concept.
The single “Vapid Prophecy” is the soundtrack to a spiritual revolution – an action-packed, celestial, genre-fusing, multidimensional journey with introspective cosmic lyricism. Their sound combines cinematic grunge with industrial production rnb and instrumentation through the lens of philosophies of love and curiosity.
With this track, NEO 10Y manages to take you to another dimensional level. I got carried away, will you face this journey?
ENID – And I
ENID is one of the newest bands on the Belgian alternative rock scene. 7 months ago, singer Nawal and drummer Pask joined their talents and started composing. She is practically a bountiful river of melodies as he enhances the artwork with his knowledge of musical arrangements and structures. Now with the complete band, totaling 5 members, ENID releases the second single entitled “And I”.
In this release, the band tells the story of an angel who fell from heaven and finds himself in a painful earthly life, strewn with traps, moments of doubt, and fear. However, the track is also intended to be a message of hope: mutual help, solidarity, empathy, make it possible to heal all wounds and to the fullness thanks to which everything becomes possible.
ENID is a band full of personality, impeccable execution, and Nawal has a unique voice with a strident touch that will mark your sound experience when listening to “And I”. They are committed to making music that generates feelings of pleasure for the listeners, so I advise you to continue following their work. The first EP is slated for spring this year. Don’t miss out!
ALEXIANE – You Say You Love Me
Alexiane released her debut EP “Into the Sun” in October 2021 and the promotional single is the enchanting ‘You Say You Love Me’. I confess that what captivated me at first was the beauty of Alexiane‘s voice and then the musical influences she carries in her composition. The daughter of a Canadian mother and a Senegalese father, she herself describes her musical style as “dark cinematic pop with African overtones”.
Until I started writing this review I listened to the entire album, I was so involved in this young woman’s talent. There are even some songs in which she sings in French too! It’s no wonder that in such a short time of her career, she has already conquered many listeners in Canada and Europe, in addition to having one of her songs, “A Million on My Soul”, produced by Stargate that was featured in the hit movie by Luc Besson “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” (starring Rihanna, Clive Owen, Cara Delevingne).
For those who enjoy artists like Lana del Rey, Halsey, Zara Larsson, Alexiane enter the hall of pop singers in your everyday life!
THOMAS GEELENS – Stop Making It Hurt
Still in the pop vibe, the single ‘Stop Making It Hurt’ was based on the last relationship of singer Thomas Geelens. Who has never been through the situation of being about to end a relationship, but chooses to try a little more because the idea of separation seems like an unbearable pain? But then regret it? After all, nobody dies of love is what they say.
Thomas Geelens confesses that he even asked his girlfriend to give him one more chance, which unfortunately didn’t work and like any good artist, he used the pain to make art. “The song was written towards the end of my 5 year relationship, you know how it is, things don’t work anymore and it’s kind of your fault. It’s me begging my then-girlfriend to give me one more chance and I’m going to stop hurting, spoiler: it didn’t work.” – he declares.
The single ‘Stop Making It Hurts’ is a super vibrant mid-tempo pop song that’s easy to hear, Thomas opens with an atmospheric backing vocal and sets the tone right away. When the chorus hits and the beat drops, the music won’t come out of your ears for a while! It’s the kind of song that when you least expect it, you’re singing the chorus around. This release is worth appreciating!
AI – Parallel Lines
AI is a synth-pop duo formed in Austin, Tx where Liz and Bobby draw inspiration from bands like Depeche Mode, David Byrne, and Nine Inch Nails to talk about the expectations our parents created versus our own growth. This is the main theme of the newly released single ‘Parallel Lines’.
“Each song is a tribute to human emotions and the ubiquitous influence of machines on our reality.” – declared the pair.
If you’ve probably ever felt like you’re charting different paths for your life than your parents would have liked, the sounds of AI might sound familiar to your feelings.
JULIENCE – Alcohol
Julience is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and bartender in his spare time. I believe the inspiration for the single ‘Alcohol’ carries the melody he hears during his work at the bar. That chaotic pub harmony, like loud, raucous chatter, you know? That’s the feeling I got when I heard your new work. Unlike most of the songs I bring here, with soft melodies or even the hardest rocks, ‘Alcohol’ caught my attention for being exotic and that’s why I ask you to give some attention to Julience‘s composition.
He loves writing and playing songs that combine great elements of pop and rock with guitar. We can say that his style combines the irreverence of Liam Gallagher, with the outgoing behavior of Mick Jagger and the guitars of the Beatles. That’s why Julience says “Don’t drink alcohol, listen to him!”.
Couldn’t imagine how this song sounds? Press play then!
