THE ROD MOORE BAND – You Won’t Bring Me Down
The Rod Moore Band new single has a clear message. ‘You Won’t Bring Me Down’ means exactly what it is. The outburst came during one of the most intense periods in which the singer was living in Toronto, during the pandemic. As a breath of air to rescue his self-confidence, Rod Moore composed the track as a decree that nothing would bring him down.
His sound inspiration is evidence of a great appreciation for the work of John Carpenter, a film producer recognized for creating horror and science fiction films. The single ‘You Won’t Bring Me Down’ has unique tone riffs, capable of getting your heart pounding at a faster rate than usual.
Listen now to the new release of The Rod Moore Band, and who knows, it can help you get your spirits up in times of war.
HEAVENLY FADED – Whales
Melancholic and uplifting, this is Heavenly Faded ‘s own vocalist and guitarist’s definition of the new single ‘Whales’. With characteristics of post-punk from the 80s, the American band is one of the new promises for the alternative rock scene today.
The track features deep lyrics that lead the listener to an emotional reflection on their own life. “So you don’t have anyone to blame / Clear the way, only you remain”. It’s ironic as a blink of an eye, we become aware that we are the only ones responsible for our life trajectory. This song has the power of you remember that you are in control, but you are also the one who decides what to do with it.
The title of the single ‘Whales’ is a symbolic representation of authority, supremacy, sensitivity, intuition, and security. The band Heavenly Faded managed to translate to the sound of rock, all these characteristics. Check out:
N4NOVEMBER – Dear Friend
The Australian alternative rock band’s new single ‘Dear Friend’ is yet another song that you, the emo lover, will become addicted to. It starts out calm and sensitive, and a few seconds before the intensity of the chorus, there are some cameos from the synthesizers giving a special touch to the composition.
Alex, responsible for the N4NOVEMBER project, is a singer, guitarist, and composer. He says that during the pandemic, he consumed a lot of movies, music, and TV shows, which contributed to creating his first release ‘Dear Friends’.
“If you have a broad knowledge of pop-culture cinema, you might hear some lines from some movies and TV shows. That’s something I’m proud of in music, I managed to implement some quotes from movie pop culture in a non-blunt way.” – declared the artist.
But the lyrics also carry more sensitive mental health issues that Alex doesn’t want to fully expose, and vents “if you find out and identify with the lyrics I hope you’re okay and we’ll get through this fight.”
N4NOVEMBER has a special message for you: “there’s so much music coming in the future, hope you stick around for this journey! Stream and share!”
BIG MOUNTAIN COUNTY – What?
Big Mountain County is an alternative rock band from Rome, Italy! ‘What Can I do?/ Hey leave me alone and go away!” are some of the intensely sung phrases on the single “What?”. This track is a scream and a form of emotional release claims the band. And of course punk rock style.
The lyrics are about a personal relationship, centered on someone very close who can become an insufferable person, leading us to a definite reaction. The famous relationship abuse, which doesn’t always need to be romantic. Until you take enough strength to get rid of this situation.
Press play and check out Big Mountain County‘s bass groove, intense drums, and raw vocals:
MICHY TREE – The Wire
Michy Tree says his release ‘The Wire’ is about how the media feeds us lies, giving us these false expectations of ourselves telling us how to act and look. His revolt has the sound of blaring guitars, synthesizers, and a chorus that resonates in your head for hours after listening to the song.
The single ‘The Wire’ is a mix of influences from alternative rock, punk rock, and the ’80s new wave.
LUKE BLACK – Amsterdam
Luke Black is a rising artist hailing from Čačak, a city in Central Serbia. In his new single ‘Amsterdam’, he sets out his vision of Europe’s most sought-after city, in which people seek to escape reality.
This electronic/pop track is capable of taking you on a psychedelic journey without the use of narcotics. The intro to the piano sound accompanying Luke’s voice is mysterious, then the chorus comes up with the perfect beat to completely envelop you.
Speaking of ‘Amsterdam’, Luke Black said: “It’s a coping mechanism, an escape from the real world into the smoke and mirrors of the beautiful city.”
ECHO COAST – Symphony of Sound
Last year, James Hobbs (singer-songwriter) decided to venture into his career creating the Echo Coastproject. The inspiration for this new phase came from his experience living on the South Coast of England.
Aiming to expand and test new musical compositions, the result achieved was something surprising. The new single ‘Symphony of Souns’ is a mix of indie, pop, grunge, and even punk, which takes the listener to a diversity of sound sensations in just 3:30 of music.
Literally a ‘Symphony of Sounds’, as if each musical genre were a component of an orchestra. No wonder this is the title of the newly released track by James Hobbs as Echo Cost.
SCARLET MILL – 29 Palms
After a 35-year break, Jennifer Moesker (vocals, piano, synths) and Erik Verhoef (vocals, guitar, bass, and drums) team up again under the name Scarlet Mill.
The melodic indie and alternative rock duo have just released their second single ’29 Palms’, the fourth track from their debut album ‘Chronicles’.
The single is a ballad with themes like despair, resignation, regret, love, and passion, where Erik’s deep voice contrasts with Jennifer’s softness and delicacy. Like two cowboys walking in opposite directions in the wild west.
On the other hand, in every word he sings, we have the feeling that his intention is to draw his other half closer to him. ‘29 Palms’ is definitely an alluring track.
GMTA – About Last Night
GMTA is an alternative rock/indie pop band from the Netherlands. That name is short for ‘Great Minds Think Alike’. The union of these two young artists was able to create a track that makes me feel attracted, although the theme is not something that awakens good feelings.
The song begins with a contagious clapping rhythm, and its main phrase in the chorus is the outburst of someone who felt like an idiot during the entire relationship. And it goes on with the plea: “I want to find peace within myself because I know I can be what I was at the end of the day.”
The track ‘About Last Night’ can be considered a soundtrack in the lives of many people today. After all, the coup is there, right?
OPHELIA’S EYE – Speak Words of Destruction
Ophelia’s Eye is a metalcore band from Switzerland who has just released their second single ‘Speak Words of Destruction’, a track on the EP, which will be released soon. With a beautiful guttural voice, the vocalist sings about how most problems between people stem from lack of communication, or unsuccessful communication, accompanied by beautiful guitar solos in extremely emotional progressive chords.
“Through our songs, listeners must also lose their connection to reality – at least for a while. We are fully motivated to provide modern, high-energy metal.” Declared the band.
WEAK TYRANT – Slide
The newly formed band in Bern (Switzerland), Weak Tryant is the new sensation for those who love melodic punk rock with the essence of the 90s, where the band draws attention to themes such as the feeling of losing your essence during the course of life, and the famous overthinking that accompanies our generation.
Following the basic structure of emo/post-rock composition, the band’s debut track precedes the first EP titled “To Be Pure”, scheduled for October 22, 2021. Despite being a band that has just debuted on the music scene, its members have already accumulated years of experience on stage, performing in several other metal, hard rock, and Swiss stoner bands.
I confess that the introduction of ‘Slide’ brought to mind a lot of Paramore songs. So if you, like me, also love this alternative rock style, press play and meet your new favorite band, Weak Tyrant!
ABI MIA – Good Intentions
Abi Mia is a singer and songwriter from London who started sharing her musical talent with the world in October 2020! She now hits the 8 singles mark with the track ‘Good Intentions’, a commercial pop song with electronic elements and a romantic personality.
The vocalist says that her inspiration to compose ‘Good Intentions’ was an old friendship that seemed unbalanced. She realized that when she needed her friends most, they were never as available as she was. The thing about the lack of reciprocity or real friendship. I bet you’ve been through that too (I have and if that’s not your case, consider yourself lucky).
“I hope my song ‘Good Intentions’ empowers you to remember that it’s in your control to step away from the negative influences in your life! Have a great day!” declared Abi Mia.
MOTE – Bondage
Whoever thought of dropping everything and moving to a new city and starting over from scratch, let’s cast the first stone. The American singer-songwriter took that sip of courage that many people would like and weeks before the pandemic broke out in the world, MOTE started his new life in Berlin.
The trigger for this fact was the period of overcoming that the musician lived after an illness that almost took his life. The second chance of MOTE started in the German city and contributed to new learnings and inspirations, which are reflected in their new single ‘Bondage’.
The track is a mix of alternative rock and standard indie, but features some not-so-discreet synth nuances, making the beat of the music intriguing and engrossing. This is the first in a series of singles that the musician intends to release during this semester.
GAVIN CONWAY – Throw a Stone
Every day more songs that are born with the characteristics of alternative indie rock have conquered my heart, or better yet, my ears. Maybe because of the nostalgic vibe they send me. After all, it would be impossible not to compare the melody and even the tone of voice of these new talents with (can we call it the old school indie rock?) Oasis.
Gavin Conway is a Dublin-born singer-songwriter who began his music career as a DJ. However, since he was a child he liked to play the guitar and risked his own compositions.
The single that has just arrived on several streaming platforms, ‘Throw a Stone’ marks the milestone in the new phase of the artist’s career. And yes, this new step is the result of much reflection and inner desires that surfaced during the height of the pandemic.
“Playing a song you wrote for someone is personal. It’s really special and I’m really happy to finally be able to do it.” – says Gavin.
Listen now to Gavin Conway‘s new release, ‘Throw a Stone’:
SOMBER DISTORTION – Burden
Joni Petteri is the voice behind the SOMBER DISTORTION project. The almost 30-year-old Finnish artist says he started the project during the pandemic and was liberating. But even so, he doesn’t like to assume it was a therapeutic process.
The full result will soon be released on a six-track EP titled “Primitive Skills”. The single ‘Burden’ is the first released work of SOMBER DISTORTION and is able to captivate many fans of grunge, garage rock, and punk.
After all, the screaming vocals characteristic of the hardcore genre and the distorted guitars can become the soundtrack of many Brazilians who miss that good old underground scene, especially in São Paulo.
Listen to ‘Burden’ and transport yourself to that shed in the dim light with the smell of beer and stories that you don’t always remember completely, but you know it was quite a ride.
